Pioneer Cemetery is a historic burial ground located just off of Main Street in downtown Batesville, Arkansas. Established in the early 1800s, it serves as the final resting place for some of the city’s earliest settlers, including veterans of the Civil War and other conflicts.
The cemetery is notable for its ornate headstones and monuments, which reflect the styles of the time periods in which they were erected. Visitors can see examples of 19th-century Victorian-era funerary art as well as more modern designs.
As with many old cemeteries, there are some tales of ghostly sightings and eerie occurrences associated with Pioneer Cemetery. However, it remains a peaceful and reverent place for families to pay their respects to their ancestors and for history buffs to learn about the early days of Batesville.

This a beautiful shot…We lived in Batesville for 5 years and we were trying to remember where
this cemetery is located. That was in the late 80’s. Thanks
